The Chief Executive Officier Mark Zuckerberg took to Instagram to announce his new product last week. He is launching a subscription service called “Meta Verified“. This option will be available for both Instagram and Facebook and they will have separate subscriptions.
“This week we’re starting to roll out Meta Verified — a subscription service that lets you verify your account with a government ID, get a blue badge, get extra impersonation protection against accounts claiming to be you, and get direct access to customer support,” stated Mark.
In the creator industry, “impersonation” is a major challenge. People trying to impersonate creators or influencers and using their identities to perform unethical actions have been increasing substantially.
This new feature acts as a shield to increase authenticity and provide security across Instagram and Facebook. Meta Verified prices start at $11.99 / month on the web or $14.99 / month on iOS.
As of now, the “Meta Verified” subscription will be available in Australia and New Zealand this week and in more countries soon. The subscribers
with the blue-tick service will get direct access to customer support.
